Who is the Center for Diagnostic Imaging?

The number of Minnesotans undergoing tests such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT) scans is at an all-time high. So it’s no wonder then that so many people in the Twin Cities area receive a bill from the Center for Diagnostic Imaging or CDI.

Who is the Center for Diagnostic Imaging, and should you be concerned about calls from them? Here’s what you need to know.

About the Center for Diagnostic Imaging

The Center for Diagnostic Imaging is a nationwide provider of imaging services, including CT scans, ultrasounds, x-rays, and other tests. In the Twin Cities area, they operate centers in St. Louis Park, Eden Prairie, Woodbury, Burnsville, and Mendota Heights, among others.

If you visited one of these centers, you were likely referred by a local physician or hospital. Accordingly, you may have received a different bill from your original provider, which is separate from the one issued by CDI.

I’ve Received a Call-Now What?

Minnesota residents have certain protections when it comes to medical bills. For example, if you are uninsured or underinsured, you are entitled to the same discounts hospitals have negotiated with insurance providers. This means the amount CDI is attempting to collect might actually be much higher than the amount you would normally be required to pay.

The law requires medical billing companies to verify that discounted health care has been applied before trying to collect on any invoice. However, many organizations fail to do so, leaving people with bills that are out of reach for them financially. Don’t get stuck paying more than your share when you can have one of our bankruptcy attorneys ensure your rights are protected.

Likelihood of Errors

According to Newsmax, a whopping 80% of all medical bills contain errors. This publication also reports that those errors amount to more than $68 billion in excess fees annually. Accordingly, you could be receiving collections notices for excessive charges and not even be aware of it.

What’s more, when patients do discover errors they are not always cleared right away. As a result, you may continue to receive phone calls from CDI or accrue late fees for charges you never should have been billed for in the first place. This is another area in which a knowledgeable bankruptcy attorney can be especially beneficial.

When is Bankruptcy an Option?

Many of our St. Paul clients visited the Center for Diagnostic Imaging after suffering a serious injury or disability that has left them unable to work. If you’re in this predicament, you may be receiving phone calls from multiple other creditors aside from CDI.

Medical expenses are a leading cause of bankruptcy in Minnesota. If you are burdened with overwhelming medical debt, relief could be possible by filing either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Speak with one of our attorneys today to find out if you qualify.
