Rick practices bankruptcy law to stand up for people facing dire financial circumstances and get them a fresh start.  Whether people have recently fallen on hard times or struggled financially for years, they often see their situation as hopeless.  Rick enjoys guiding clients through the bankruptcy process, showing them that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that they are not alone.

One of Rick’s favorite parts about bankruptcy practice is having the ability to provide fast relief for clients when they need it most.  In other areas of law, it can take a long time to get the results that a client expects and deserves.  People often don’t consider bankruptcy until they are facing a pending garnishment, foreclosure, repossession, or eviction.  In most cases, there is still time to get a bankruptcy filed and solve the problem.

Prior to practicing bankruptcy law at Walker & Walker, Rick represented clients facing debt collection lawsuits to help them negotiate with creditors and settle their debts.  This work gave him an appreciation of the stress and uncertainty that clients feel when faced with seemingly insurmountable debt, and he enjoys defending clients from large banks and debt collectors.  This experience also helped him appreciate the powerful and unique tools that bankruptcy offers.  Clients are often terrified when they receive a summons from one of their creditors or learn that their paychecks are being garnished, and filing bankruptcy can stop the lawsuit or garnishment in its tracks.

Lastly, Rick enjoys the fact that no two bankruptcy cases are the same.  Each client brings their own unique circumstances to the table, and the fun and challenge of bankruptcy practice is finding out how to get the best results to fit each client’s situation and needs.
