10 Things that take longer than a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy discharge

In our experience, you can expect your discharge after 180 days (6 months) of filing for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

This time we’ll take a more light-hearted look at some of the things that take longer than a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

In no particular order, here are our top 10.

1. Pregnancy

We all know that on average pregnancy takes 9 months.

If you thought that your pregnancy went quicker than you could have possibly imagined, what will you think about the speed you can become debt free?

2. Baby sleeping through the night

As a new parent every day is exciting, although tiring.

You’ll be pleased to know that 60% of babies are sleeping through the night by 6 months. Which is the same time it takes to get your debts discharged.

3. Having a prosthetic limb fitted

If you’ve had an amputation, you might have a temporary replacement prosthetic limb fitted.

4. Planning your wedding

Wedding websites often recommend you have a 12 month wedding planning timescale.

If you’re getting married then you’ll know why. you’re busy already planning the venue, service, cake, reception, dress, honeymoon and everything else that goes into a successful wedding.

5. Learning to drive in Minnesota

If you are learning to drive in Minnesota you will have driving training with your professional Drivers Education Instructor, as well as 60 hours supervised driving practice with a licensed adult.

An hour a week is 60 weeks, 2 hrs per week is 30 weeks, both much longer than the 6 months it takes for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

6. Confidence in a foreign language

If you want to learn some very basic phrases to help you on holiday, when talking to your customers or clients, or when travelling abroad on business it may just take a few days to pick up the essentials.

Anything more complicated such as verbs, grammar, a wider vocabulary, or writing, will take you longer.

Depending on the time you dedicate to learning, as well as your skill, experience and chosen language, it can take you 6 months to become confident in a new language.

7. Proficiently playing a musical instrument

Depending on your age, dedication and your chosen instrument, you can be proficient at playing a musical instrument in around 6 months.

This is dependent on how much time you actually spend playing, and not being distracted.

For most people though, learning an instrument takes longer than a Chapter 7 bankruptcy

A 30-week marathon program will give you the miles you need to complete your first marathon, longer than a Chapter 7 bankruptcy takes.

Although there are 16 week marathon programs, newer and less experienced runners are encouraged to build up long runs over a longer period of time, in order to have “miles in their legs” ready for their marathon.
